Today’s blog comes from a beautiful friend who wished to remain anonymous. enjoy!
Aren’t these strange times we are living in? Who would have thought that as we celebrated the end of 2019 and walked into this new year that we would be living in lockdown, separated from friends and family and hearing daily updates of the death toll in our local areas? It seems like we are living in a Netflix movie unable to press the pause button.
I want to take this opportunity to state massive appreciation and support for our NHS staff, Care Home staff and all frontline workers who are faced with the heartbreaking reality of this virus. I have been blown away by the love and kindness I have witnessed in our local community and especially amongst people who I believe to have no faith. If I ever feel the need to have my faith restored in mankind I will think back to this season and the authentic love and care we have had for each other. It struck me recently that we are seeing mini rainbows being stuck on the inside of house window’s all across the globe at this time as a sign of love when biblically this is a representation and reminder of God’s promises to us as a loving father. How cool is that?
But I have something specific that I want to share today. I believe I heard God warn us that the enemy is ‘upping’ his lies while we are in this current period of isolation. Guys, I am not talking fibs, I am talking very specific lies targeted at specific people. Remember – the enemy is subtle and is an accuser. In Genesis verse 3 we are told that ‘the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made.’ I believe he is whispering his lies in the ears of many people of faith particularly targeting our marriages, our finances, our identities and our belief in our parenting abilities. He is out to create fear and anxiety and to shift our eyes from our Father. Please remember the enemy is no match for God. ‘Big God, little devil’ is something I remind myself of often, so we are not to be afraid, just aware of his schemes.
In this season we see constant reminders to sanitise our hands, wipe down our shopping trolleys, wear masks, stand 2 meters apart and so on. These are all measures to prevent cross-contamination of germs and the spread of the Covid 19 virus. I feel that my responsibility with this message is to share some reminders to stop the spread of the enemy’s lies and deceit and to reassure you that we already have the vaccine made readily available to us to reverse what the accuser has started and to stop him in his tracks. In fact, this particular vaccine was made available to us centuries ago at the cross. That was when the enemy was defeated. He just wants to distract us from this truth. All we need to do is refocus and immerse ourselves in the truths and promises of our father which we can find in his word. Here are a few of them.
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
John 10 v 10
So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
For the Lord, your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me for my Father has given them to me and He is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.
But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
Don’t love money, be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, ‘I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.’ So we can say with confidence ‘The Lord is my helper so that I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?’
